PARK: bir ihtimal (PARK: a possibility), is a public art project situated in one of the busiest parks in Istanbul.
Curated by Can Altay, the project questions what park is and what it can be in the context of a complex eco-system: the city.
We designed a booklet, composed of nine double-sided posters for each contributor, information about the project and a map of the park. Along with the booklet, we designed signboards that create ‘X’ shapes – visible from above as if they are x marks on a map to announce the project throughout the park.
The poster-spreads from the booklet were then posted onto the signboards; these were colour-coded corresponding to the map’s legend and were placed throughout the park while they also performed the role of ‘exhibition graphics’ that carried the information for each of the works.
The artworks include a work/play station by Nils Norman, a sustainable garden by Sinek Sekiz, drawings by Ceren Oykut, an audio guide where one can hear the extraordinary tales of people that live and work in the park and public furniture by the PARK group. PARK is on Niflantaflı Maçka Dimitrei Cantemir / Cumhuriyet Parkı, until October 2010.
